Fannie Martin
Mrs. Fannie. Heard Martin, 101 years old, widow of Mr. Harold Hill Martin, passed June 21, 2017, in East Point, Georgia.

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Mr. Augustus and Mrs. Fannie Marshall Heard of Abbeville, South Carolina. She was educated in Abbeville County Schools and raised in Saint James A.M.E. Church. She attended West Virginia State University where she was initiated into the Alpha Delta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated in 1934. She later transferred to Clark College from which she graduated in 1937.

She was married in 1942, to Mr. Harold Hill Martin, son of the late Reverend and Mrs. W. R. Martin. From this union one daughter was born, Brenda Ione Martin. She received her Master's Degree from Furman University in 1975. She retired after over 40 years of service to the children of Greenville County. She was a dedicated member of Allen Temple A.M.E. Church where she served in several capacities.

Mrs. Martin was the last surviving charter member of the Greenville (SC) Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and the Greenville Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated.
