Mrs. Parasade Victoria O’Neal Gowens, 97, of Travelers Rest, South Carolina, passed on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at Prisma Healthcare Greer Memorial Hospital. She was a daughter of the late Raymond and Bessie McKenzie O’Neal. She was the last surviving “Golden Girl” member of her immediate family. Mrs. Gowens was the widow of the late Carey Walter Gowens, Sr. for 69 years.
Surviving: two sons, Walter (Martha) Gowens, Jr., of Greenville, SC and Thomas Gowens, Sr., of Travelers Rest, SC; six grandchildren, Abony Cherice Gowens, Ashley V. Gowens, Thomas Gowens, Jr., Marqulia C. Gowens, Carey J. Gowens, and Dashia I. Gowens; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service: Saturday, June 18, 2022, 2:30pm, at Watkins, Garrett and Woods Mortuary with interment in Meadow Fork Baptist Church Cemetery, Travelers Rest, SC.
